Mysore Palace is situated near the city bus stand. This magnificent palace attracts more tourists second only to the Taj Mahal. Every year, more than 60 lakhs people visit Mysore Palace. This beautiful palace was built by the Wodeyar kings. Although there was a palace since the first Mysore king Yaduraya Wodeyar, the present palace was built only a century ago. Built in the Indo-gothic style, this palace is made of fine grey granite and pink marble stones. The Mysore palace is presently converted into a museum. It has portraits of Mysore kings and many artistic embellishments that give us an insight into of the exuberant lifestyle of the royals. The palace remains illuminated on Sundays, state festivals and national holidays. One can visit the magnificent Mysore Palace on any day from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm. Entry charge to the palace is Rs.40 for adults, Rs.20 for students between 10 to 18 years of age and Rs.200 for foreign nationals.
