Though not a very popular destination yet, Pathrakadavu is a place which compels its visitors to come again and again to explore its scenic beauty. Unfortunately, other than the natives of Mannarkkad, not many have knowledge about this beautiful spot. The natural water here originates in the Silent Valley and flows down many big and small hills before reaching Pathrakadavu. Another characteristic is that the water that flows here is icy cold. During rainy season the water has strong undercurrent and people are not allowed to enter the water during such times.
Though the place is a little dangerous, if you love adventures, then this is the place for you. Visitors love to climb up the steep slopes and enjoy a dive in the many areas where it’s possible to do so. A bath in the cool water here can energize our souls. One can’t stop wondering why this place has not been declared an official tourist destination in spite of being such an enchanting spot, Kuruthichal can be reached via Kuruthichal- Mannarkkad- Mylapadam route near M.E.S College. Kuruthichal is just 8km away from here. Remember to turn right at Mylapadam junction and you will soon reach this beautiful spot. This is a place to enjoy a one-day holiday. Water so pure that reflects like a mirror and few rocks that look like pimples in the river and water that swirls and flows between the rocks makes this place a scenic beauty. The water flow is less during summer but during the rainy season the undercurrent is too strong to enter the river which has too many rocks in it. So, it is dangerous to explore during rainy season. The visitors should take note not to bring any plastic materials here and in case they do, they must take them back with them as this river provides drinking water for the people here.
