Chamonix is a township that shares border with France, Switzerland and Italy. Chamonix Mount Blanc is a beautiful Ski resort that lies near the mountains here. It is one of the most popular skiing spot in Europe. The skiing season lasts from December to April. This is the time when we can ride cable cars to reach atop the peaks and enjoy skiing. Aiguille du Midi peak lies about 4,810m above sea level (15,775 feet) and is the 11th tallest peak in the world.
To reach here, you need a Schengen Visa. This visa allows you to visit around 26 European countries. You can apply for this visa at the embassy of the first European country you visit. Gare de Lyon is one of the six most important railway stations in France. From here get into a train to Geneva in Switzerland and then avail a bus to Chamonix. The train journey lasts for 3 ½ hours and then a one hour journey by bus will take you to Chamonix. Although you have to travel through Switzerland to reach here, Chamonix is actually a part of France.
