Rishikesh rafting is undisputedly India’s No.1 rafting activity.  The rafting in the many tough and rough rapids is an amazing and unforgettable experience. Usually the rafting distances are 9km, 17km and 24km. The best time for rafting is during March- May. Although there are many rafting agencies around, each one of them demands different rate for the activity. The usual rate is in the range of Rs.250 – 300 for a single person. If the number of people planning to do rafting is more, it is better to do either 17km or 24km rafting because it is here where you can experience some really harsh adventurous rafting due to rugged and uneven movement of water. This adventure of rafting through edges and turns to plunge into the water is a thrilling experience. The first visit to the banks of river Ganga might frighten you a bit but soon you will feel safe in her arms. The ride is done wearing a life-jacket and so is very safe. Always remember to strictly follow the instructions of the rafting captain. It’s better to do rafting in the months of February, March or the beginning of April to experience blue water rafting. By the end of April, the water turns muddy due to the melting snow from the Himalayas. By June, the water level in the river rises to a high level and so it is dangerous to do the 17km and 24km rafting.  Only the 9km rafting is allowed. As it is monsoon season in July-August, no rafting takes place.
