Kidaram waterfalls is not known to many people yet even in Kerala. This beautiful waterfall lies inside the Vazhani wildlife Sanctuary which is situated in Trissur district. The Vazhani dam is completely built with clay and was built across the Wadakkancherry River in 1962. It is a remote area with lush green plants, animals that include deer, peacock, fox and hundreds of reptiles. Nature lovers who plan to visit the Kidaram waterfalls must get a permit from the forest department before you can venture into the dense forest. There is a narrow path next to the dam which will take you inside the forest to reach this amazing waterfall. The greenery around will excite any person who loves nature. As you move along the path parallel to the river flowing towards the dam, listening to the crickets you may find the hiking not very difficult but at the same time not too easy either. You must walk for almost 6km to reach the waterfalls. The region is abundant with forest resources.
Those who are planning to visit from Kozhikode, take the Kottakkal-Valancherry-Pattambi-Kulapully-Mullurkkara-Ottupara route. From Ottupara, turn left and ride for another 8km to reach Vazhani.
