Nestled between Kashmir’s mountains and Ladakh’s snow-cladded mountains, lies this gorgeous valley named Warwan. In this picturesque valley, flows a clear-blue water parallel to the mountains, lush green fields lying for kilometers at a stretch, small wooden houses and the shepherds who grace their sheep. The weather is freezing cold even during day time. There is not a single town in this region. On the south, there is the village Inshan and on the north Sukhnai. Warwan is a thaluk in the Kishtwar district which lies 60km away from Srinagar. Warwan thaluk consists of twelve villages. The distance between the nearby Inshan village and Anantnag, is about 96km. This strikingly beautiful village lies on the banks of river Marwa. All the houses are built on the lush green pasture on the river bank. Behind the green fields, one can see thick plantations of devdaru and pine trees growing on the slopes of the mountains. The western side of the river gives a stunning view of the ranges with trails moving up and across the mountains. For almost 6-7 months the valley is cut off from Kishtwar due to heavy snowfall and travelling is exhausting during this time of the year.
