Avalanche is located about 30km away from Ooty, in the lap of Sahya-Nilgiri hills. You can reach here through Nilambur-Guddalur-Ooty- Muthorai- Kappathurai- Emerald Bazar route or by travelling from Mannarkkad, Attapadi via Elachi, Manjoor, Edakkad road. The Attapadi road has many hairpin turns which might excite people who love adventurous drives. Driving through the Nilgiri top gives you a fascinating view of beautiful carrot, cauliflower fields, fully blossomed rose apple trees and tea estates. The journey through the forests below the Sahya hills in Nilgiri Berge is an unforgettable experience. The flora here is different from what we usually see in our Kerala forests. On the way, there is a resort where we can stay. The tourists are taken to the Avalanche lake in vehicles owned by the forest department. The entry fee to this place is Rs.150 per adult and Rs.75 for children. If you are ready to adjust along, you may have to pay only 150 rupees. The trip is 2 hours long. This scenic spot will take you breath away with its spectacular view of lake and the surroundings. Nature lovers will have some best memories here.
