Wayanad’s biggest dam at Karapuzha awaits visitors by providing new schemes to attract them. This dam is situated about 6km away from Ambalavayal. The road leading to the dam is a bad condition and so people usually avoid visiting this beautiful place. One can see many fish in the clear water here. The landscape is beautiful and one can enjoy watching birds and butterflies here.
The ticket rate is Rs.30/person. The Tourist Department has started a few schemes to make the place more attractive. There is a small children’s park and a lovely garden near the dam. They have already started beautifying the place, paving tiles on the path and placing seats for the visitors to rest. The authority aims to attract more visitors here and make it a favorite spot like the Banasura Dam. Hope they plan to include a boat safari too in future. The authorities must also make sure to tar the Ambalavayal road that leads to this place. There is an aquarium by the Kerala Fisheries Department near with dam.
