Though not a very popular tourist spot, Belagola is a charming place with a beautiful dam. Situated in Karnataka, Belagola lies just 45 km away from Mysore via Virajpeta road. If you are travelling from Kannur, you can reach here through Kannur-Iritty-Kootupuzha- Makkootam Ghat/churam via Hunsur Gonikoppal road, covering a distance of 175 km. the water from the dam flows down as a small waterfall giving it a scenic beauty. Hundreds of people visit here daily to view the dam and its waterfall. You can also climb inside without a ticket and spend as much time as you wish in the water. There is a food court next to the dam. Fried fish is the specialty of this place. There are also many lodges nearby where you can freshen up or even stay at night. But if you aim only to visit Belagola, remember that the only interesting sight here is the dam.  So it’s always better to include a trip to Belagola when you plan to visit other tourist spots like Mysore or similar tourist centers nearby.
