Aizawl, which is also the capital of Mizoram, lies 3700 feet above sea level. To visit Aizawl, a permit is required. The visitors have to fill a form with their name and details along with a fee of Rs.170 to get a permit to stay in Aizawl for a period of seven days. Aizawl is about 30 km away from the airport. The roads here are small and narrow and people mostly travel by taxis. There are special taxis that ply to Aizawl. They are white Maruti 800 on which Aizawl is written in yellow stickers. There are around 2000 such taxis here. There are shops on either side of the road. The people of Mizoram mostly follows English culture. Most of the traders here are women who seem to be more active in decision making than men. This may be due to the fact that the ratio of women is high compared to men
