Niagara Waterfalls consists of three waterfalls, two in America and one in Canada. The Niagara river begins its journey from Lake Erie, flows 58km through America to reach the waterfalls and then spreads over Canadian territory before it falls down. The American side of waterfalls are called American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls while the Canadian one is known as Horseshoe Falls. It falls from a height of 167 feet. If you compare Athirappilly waterfalls, it is just 330feet wide while the Niagara Falls is 3660feet wide. While Athirappilly plunges 1836 cubic feet water in a second, in the case of the Niagara, it is 85000 cubic feet.
America and Canada share the 4400-Megawatt electricity produced here. Earlier it was a very dangerous region but later it started spreading over to Canada before taking the plunge.  Visitors claim that the Canadian falls is the most beautiful among the three. It is possible to go below the falls. One can enjoy boating and clicking pictures at the basin by a boat tour provided by the American and Canadian authorities. The guests have to wear a raincoat and board the ‘Maid of the Mist’ tour boat which takes them to the basin through the rushing white water and enjoy the splendour of the Niagara Falls
