Katulla Mala is a stunning hill unknown to the people outside Kozhikode. Situated in the Kurachundu Panchayath in Koyilandy taluk. Tis beautiful spot lies 70km away from the Calicut Airport and 41km from the Kozhikode railway station. If you are at the Kozhikode bus stand, it would take a ride of 40km to reach here.
Katulla Mala has a height of 2400 feet. Surrounded by deep valleys, this hill offers a spectacular view of the landscape from every side. The fog that seems to play hide and seek, the cool breeze followed by sudden rains and the adventure of climbing up the tall hill, all gives the visitor an electrifying feeling. One can see this hill from many parts of Wayanad, Malappuram, Kannur and Kozhikode. From the top of this hill, you can get a breath-taking view of the Arabian sea from Kozhikode to Thalasseri, Veliyekkal and the cape of Nandi Bagat. The sunset view from here is splendid. On a full moon day and the next day, one can see the sunset and the moonrise from this hill. The colourful horizon soon after the sunset and the regions around with lit lamps is a spectacular sight to behold.
