Situated around 6km away from Cherrapunji, the Mawsmai Cave is a major tourist attraction. One has to pay Rs.10 for bikes, Rs.20 for four-wheelers as parking fee along with an entry fee of Rs.20. If you want to carry your camera inside, then extra charges are to be paid. This beautiful cave can be explored without the help of any guide. The cave which is 150m long is electrified and hence the visitors can roam about easily. Though the entrance of the cave is wide, it gets narrower with many twists and turns inside. This may create breathlessness in some people due to the presence of large crown inside. It gives an adventure feel to many visitors because of the presence of plants, creatures including bats and insects that create an eerie feeling inside the cave. The water dripping for decades along the walls of the cave has resulted in forming curious rock shapes. These natural handicrafts are just superb, something unseen and exceptional for the visitors who come here.
