The Karaiyar dam lies about 10 km away from Papanasam in Tamil Nadu. It is located within the premises of the Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve and is a part of it. The Karaiyar Dam provides with boating services which is sure to thrill travelers You can reach there through the road next to the Papanasam bus stand. There is also a temple next to the dam where you can find a huge crowd every day. Those who wish to go there can use bus or auto service which is available at Papanasam. You have to travel around a steep mountain side to reach this beautiful temple. One has to take a dip in the river before entering the temple premise. Once you reach 2 km away from Papanasam, you have to take a pass. The amount is 15 rs/person but in case you are travelling on a bike, you have to pay an extra 5 rs. If you plan to go from Kerala, you can reach there from Aryankavu via Tenkasi- Ambasanudram route.
