Anchuruli Tunnel is a picturesque landscape, about 10km away from Kattapana in Idukki. If you are travelling through the Kottayam-Kanchiyar route, it is just 3 km away. The main attraction here is a 5 km length tunnel, an extension of the Idukki dam through which water flows from the Irattayar dam to the Idukki reservoir. The name derives from the five hills visible in the water during summer season. They look like five inverted vessels or ‘uruli’. To have a better view of these hills tourists usually visit the place during summer. The region has an enchanting view of nature with only sounds of birds, streams and water falls. The movie ‘Iyyobinte Pusthakam ‘was shot in this beautiful place. Slowly this not much known place is turning out to be a favourite spot for the tourists visiting Kattapana. If you plan to go there, you can also visit the Ayyapan Kovil suspension bridge nearby.
