Failaka is a tiny island lying off shore Kuwait City. There is a boat service from Salmiya, next to Marina Mall to reach this island which lies about 20 km away from the coast of Kuwait. It takes at least 1 hour to reach Failaka.
The first thing you see is a police station. There are many interesting spots here like the heritage village and a museum which give perfect glimpse into the rich past and glory of the island. This island is a historical place preserving the essence of its past. Mesopotamians had lived here in the past from 2000 BC onwards. Traders from the Sumerian city of Ur used to live and do business in Failaka Island. During Alexander the Great’s military expedition, the Greeks also made a colony here in 331 BC. They renamed the island as Ikoras.
