There is an amazing fort lying unnoticed in Kadapa district Andhra Pradesh named the Gandikota. ‘Gandi’ which literally means a gorge or canyon. This spectacular gorge is formed by river Pennar that cuts through the Erramala hills. The fascinating sight of Pennar flowing between the two hills which stand 300m tall is breath-taking. This place is also known as the ‘Great Canyon of India’. There are two temples- Madhavarayaswami temple, Ranganathaswami temple and also a Juma Masjid inside the fort. There is also a granary inside the fort. At 300m height, there is a pond that provides water even during summer season. One can walk around leisurely indulging in the beauty of this magnificent fort which stands majestically with history of many generations written in red sandstone.  It would hurt historians to see the remnants of the fort at present. This fort is a sight to behold at least once in a life time.
